Friends of the Geisenkoetter family of Wyoming, Minn., have organized a Feb. 10 memorial benefit for Alan Geisenkoetter Jr., the 8-year-old killed when an allegedly drunken snowmobiler plowed through his family's ice fishing site on Chisago Lake.

The benefit will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at the Chisago Lake boat launch with a suggested donation of $5 for the family of Ellie and Alan Geisenkoetter Sr. The event is being billed as a dry, family-oriented day of ice fishing.

Alan Jr. lived for five days after he was struck Jan. 26. His father was hospitalized with injuries, but has since been released from the hospital.

The snowmobile driver, Eric J. Coleman, 45, of Chisago City, faces one count of criminal vehicular homicide, one count of criminal vehicular operation and a charge of drunken driving.
