A judge in Bemidji says the results of a primary election on the White Earth reservation will stand. Judge Margaret Treuer ruled that the protesters who had contested the election results didn't show enough evidence to warrant another primary election.
Tribal Chairwoman Erma Vizenor received nore than 66 percent of the votes in Tuesday's primary. Because she got more than 50 percent, she automatically retains her seat.
In the District III race, Kenneth (Gus) Bevins and Ralph (Bucky) Goodman will advance to the general election June 10. They were the top vote getters among 12 candidates.
The protesters claimed the identities of some voters were not verified, and that absentee ballots were given to non-tribal members.
