Belle Plaine's Dungey wins fourth motocross in row

Ryan Dungey raced to his fourth consecutive AMA Pro Motocross 450 Class victory Saturday, beating Ben Townley in Lakewood, Colo.

"I've been fortunate to win some races," said Dungey, the Rockstar/Makita Suzuki star from Belle Plaine. "They let the track go today and it got rough, which was cool. It made for some great racing."

Dungey, 51 points ahead of Brett Metcalfe in the season standings, won the second moto after finishing second in the first.

U's Anderson seventh Former Gophers athlete Gabriele Anderson finished seventh in the 1,500-meter final at the USA Track and Field Championships in Des Moines.

Anderson, running for the Gophers for the final time in her career, finished behind six professional runners in a time of 4 minutes, 17.53 seconds.

Etc. • Time for Wilena, a 30-1 long shot, beat eight 3-year-olds in the $35,300 Canterbury Quarter Horse Derby at Canterbury Park in Shakopee. Time for Wilena completed 400 yards in a 19.69 seconds, winning by a neck over The Regal Streak. She paid $63.80.

Brian Cvilikas scored the tiebreaking goal in the 65th minute and the NSC Minnesota Stars beat host Crystal Palace Baltimore 3-1. Warren Ukah and Andres Arango also scored goals for the Stars (7-8-2).

Chad Rohlford's three-run homer in the seventh inning sent Wichita to a 3-1 victory over the St. Paul Saints at Midway Stadium. Brent Krause tied the Saints team record with his 348th hit. The second game of their doubleheader was rained out; the teams will play a doubleheader Sunday beginning at 1:05 p.m.
