The Monster Energy AMA Supercross series returns to the Metrodome on Saturday for the 13th time, but the first in five years.

Ryan Villopoto headlines the main 450SX event. He's won five consecutive races and carries a 21-point lead with four races remaining. He's one victory away from tying his career best single-season win total of nine, set last year.

Among those standing in his way is local favorite Ryan Dungey. The Belle Plaine native extended his podium streak to four races following a runner-up finish in Houston last week. Dungey has consistently been Villopoto's most formidable challenger over the past five races and sits 25 points out of the lead in third place, a full race behind, but is in a comfortable spot.

At the Dome in 2008, Dungey shocked the crowd and industry with a runner-up finish in only his third career start.

Dungey was a full-time 250SX Class competitor at the time and was racing in the 450SX Class as a fill-in for an injured teammate.

Etc.

Ryan Abrahamson's two-run homer capped a three-run eighth inning that lifted the Gophers to a 4-2 baseball victory at Northwestern.

Rok Bonin and Juan Pablo Ramirez won at singles and doubles as the Gophers men's tennis team defeated Indiana 6-1 at the Baseline Tennis Center.
