Bed, Bath & Beyond accepts its own expired coupons

Start hoarding your BBB coupons again. The expired ones are still good.

Am I the only one who was told that Bed, Bath & Beyond quit accepting its expiring coupons for 20 percent off any single item? After Linens 'n Things closed all of its stores, a Bed, Bath & Beyond clerk informed me of the policy change. But last weekend a friend used his expired coupon successfully. I called three Twin Cities stores (Bloomington, Minnetonka and Woodbury, 651-739-3800) and was told by each, "We prefer it if they're not expired, but we will accept them if they are."

Will they accept one that's a year or two old? It's doubtful, but it depends on the kindness of the cashier. To start getting the 20 percent off coupons, sign up in the store or at the site. Click on "Email Signup" at the top of the home page.

I don't automatically think that BBB's price with the 20 percent discount is the best one, but it comes in handy on clearance and items exclusive to BBB.
