Beasley set to start for Wolves tonight vs. Clippers

Wolves face Blake Griffin and surging Clippers in L.A. tonight

Michael Beasley participated in shootaround this morning at Staples Center and, barring something unforeseen happening, will start tonight against the Clippers.

Doesn't seem like it's anywhere near fully healed, but...

"It feels a little better," he said after practice Tuesday. "It's still sore in the morning, still stiff. But it's cool. I can tolerate it."

Corey Brewer was here, too -- he flew home to Tennessee Sunday to be with his ill father and met the team in Portland for Monday night's game -- and also is expected to start.

On another topic:

Interesting answer from Kurt Rambis this morning when I asked him about the point-guard situation and why not give odd-man-out Sebastian Telfair another look?

He was, after all, the starting point guard when the Wolves started to play better right here at Staples Center against the Lakers in November and soon after won some games.

Rambis answer:

Those are his decisions and he doesn't need to explain them.

OK...

It was a funny answer, considering I explained to him that fans have been tweeting and emailing me wondering that question and he just shook his head no and declined to answer further. Maybe he just doesn't like the way I ask the questions.

What he wouldn't say are the other factors in this decision: The need to try to get Jonny Flynn's trade value up, for one. And Telfair's expiring contract for another.

Still, it's a legitimate question, just like asking the other day if the team would ever consider sending Flynn back to the D League to get his playing time, conditioning and confidence up and Rambis said that Flynn's playing here so that idea makes no sense.

The Gophers played with more urgency, but it wasn’t enough to keep them from another conference sweep, and they lost LJ Mooney to injury in the process.
