Barriball, Sacchetti miss Wednesday's practice

Two players missed practice on Wednesday as Gophers coach juggled lines. Erik Haula and Nick Bjugstad, the first- and second-line centers, respectively, exchanged spots.

Gophers' lines during Wednesday's practice:

first line/ Mike Hoeffel-Nick Bjugstad-Nick Larson ... if this looks a lot like second line, it has been at times this season ... Jay Barriball might still play this weekend. He hopes to but it could be just hopeful thinking

second/ Jacob Cepis-Erik Haula-Jake Hansen ... Haula has been the center on top line all season but, since coming back from World Juniors during holidays, he only has one assist

third/ Nate Condon-Taylor Matson-Max Gardiner ... Condon is up to seven goals, Matson has been stuck on six for a while

fourth/ Tom Serratore-Patrick White-Jared Larson and Joey Miller ... White has been getting more ice time lately, even on the power play. He had a rebound goal Saturday waved off. An arguement could be made that the officials got the call wrong.

The missing: Barriball, the Gophers captain, skated at Ridder a bit before Wednesday's practice but did not return for the regular practice at Mariucci Arena. He is nursing a lower body injury suffered in the first period of the Gophers' 6-4 loss at Minnesota Duluth on Saturday.

Also not at practice Wednesday was Nico Sacchetti. He is ill with the flu.

Houston made the Twins pay for their inability to get a hit with a runner in scoring position all weekend, walking off with an extra-inning victory on a long fly ball that Willi Castro couldn’t catch.
