Barea, Puerto Rico play for title tonight

Wolves guard J.J. Barea has led Puerto Rico to tonight's FIBA America's championship game.

Basketball fans can catch Wolves guard J.J. Barea and his Puerto Rico team play in tonight's FIBA America's championship against Mexico at 7 p.m. on NBA TV.

Barea had 16 points, eight assists and five rebounds in Tuesday's 79-67 semifinal victory over the Domincan Republic.Puerto Rico clinched a spot in the 2014 basketball World Cup with that victory.

Barea has had a strong Americas tournament, averaging 13 points and 3.3 assists.

Two other Wolves players - Ricky Rubio (Spain) and Alexey Shved (Russia) - are competing in the EuroBasketball Tournament. Shved's Russian team has been eliminated after a 1-4 showing, although Shved averaged 16.4 points and 4.8 assists.

Spain advanced to the second round with a 4-1 record, as Rubio averaged 10.8 points and 3.8 assists. Spain will take on Greece Thursday at 10:45 a.m. (Twin Cities time). All games of the tournament are televised online at ESPN3.com, and the Sept. 24 championship game will be on ESPN2.
