Bar & restaurant deals 4/19: Last days of college

With only a few weeks left in the spring semester, college seniors have precious little time to revel in the ultra-cheap specials that college bars are known for. Whether it's your last hurrah, or you're in need of some penny-pinching nostalgia, we recommend these watering holes.

The Library Bar

One of the more infamous U of M bar nights, the Dinkytown standby's "White Trash Wednesday" caters to the thriftiest of beer-guzzling coeds. Wednesday from 9 p.m. to midnight, Miller High Life and PBR tallboys are just a buck and rail drinks are only $1.50. As a bonus, build your drinking base with 25-cent wings and free bacon.

Plums Neighborhood Grill & Bar

Anchored on the corner of Snelling and Randolph, this friendly pub is a favorite haunt of the Macalester/St. Thomas/St. Catherine's crowd. And with a Friday happy hour from 2 to 5:30 p.m. boasting $2.50 domestics and rails, and $1 eight-ounce cans of Coors Light, it's the perfect place to end the school week. Not only are the drinks cheap, but a free taco bar means one less ramen noodle meal.

Sally's Saloon & Eatery

In sympathy for the constantly broke collegiate way of life, this Stadium Village saloon offers free -- yup, free -- drinks for an hour every Tuesday and Thursday. From 9:30 to 10:30 p.m., rail drinks and select 10-ounce taps won't cost you a dime (just don't forget to tip, huh?). What better way to forget about the mountain of debt you're racking up than by knocking back free booze?
