Bar & restaurant deals 2/23: Thirsty Thursday

If you've been hoping the United States will follow the French in instituting a four-day workweek, don't hold your breath. But that doesn't mean you have to wait until the weekend to let loose. Thirsty Thursday is a tradition in the bar scene, and we've got some deals to aid your pre-weekend partying.

The Gay '90s

A gay club may not be the first thing that springs to mind when searching for a working-class watering hole, but progressive lunchpailers should consider joining the revelers of all creeds here for the fabulous deals. Cough up a five-spot for the cover charge and enjoy $1 rails and domestic beers from 9 p.m. to close, with the '90s' famous drag shows from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The Bulldog Uptown

Nothing is more rewarding after a day's work than that first sip of a cold, crisp pint -- and the Bulldog brass knows it. Every Thursday is Bell's night at the Whittier beer bar, when from 7 p.m. to close the beloved Michigan brewery's beers are $2 cheaper. And with some of the best bar food in town at the Bulldog, you might as well line your stomach while sipping the suds.

Amazing Thailand

If it's been an especially rough week, you might need to go straight for the liquor. For a boozy reprieve, stop by the Uptown Thai restaurant anytime on Thursdays to savor $5 signature cocktails. Go classic with a Maker's Mark Manhattan or kiss your cares goodbye with the First Mai Thailand, a spin on the traditional fruity, rum-filled concoction.
