Old-time GOP operative Ed Rollins is expected to lead Michele Bachmann's yet-unannounced presidential campaign, he told ABC News on Monday. "I have talked to her about how you put a campaign together," Rollins told ABC. "If she chooses to run, I'll certainly be involved." The news, first reported on CBS, has yet to be confirmed by the Bachmann camp. Asked by the Star Tribune to confirm the report, trusted Bachmann aide Andy Parrish responded via email, "No I can't." Rollins is best known for running Ronald Reagan's reelection campaign in 1984. But more relevant for Bachmann's purposes, he was Mike Huckabee's national campaign director in 2008, the year the former Arkansas governor won the Iowa caucus. Rollins told ABC that since the Minnesota Republican has yet to formally announce her campaign, he has no specified title. But he added, "As the oldest person in the room, it's safe to say, I'd be in charge." Bachmann is expected to make her candidacy official later this month in Iowa. Rollins certainly adds some heft to her presidential bid, though some GOP insiders couldn't help noticing privately that, for whatever reason, the grizzled GOP gunslinger was passed over or did not come to terms with a half-dozen previously declared GOP contenders, including former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
