Rep. Michele Bachmann, coming off a 13-point victory last night, will run for the No. 3 4 spot in the Republican House Leadership.

(Conference Chair is the No. 3 spot currently for Republicans but will be No. 4 when they take the House in January.)

Bachmann spokesman Sergio Gor said the Minnesota Republican and Tea Party Caucus founder will seek the GOP Conference Chair in the House.

"Last night we saw clearly Constitutional conservatives from all across the U.S. get elected, and they deserve a seat at the table," Gor said. "Michele Bachmann is going to provide a loud and clear voice within the GOP conference for Constitutional conservatives."

The Conference Chair was held by Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana, but Pence announced today that he is resigning to potentially seek higher office. Pence won the Values Voter Summit 2012 presidential straw poll in September.

Gor said Bachmann was encouraged by both veteran and newly elected members of Congress to run for the leadership post. Bachmann has gained a national profile through frequent television appearances and a record-breaking $11 million fundraising haul this election.

Bachmann also leads the Tea Party Caucus, which has 52 House Republican members. And many of the Republican candidates she backed, such as Bobby Schilling in Illinois and Tim Walberg in Michigan, knocked off incumbents Tuesday.

Republican Rep. Jeb Hensarling of Texas has also indicated he will seek the Conference Chair position.
