Bachmann's health care rally questioned -- again

Group asks congressional ethics office to investigate

A non-profit group that chases congressional ethics issues has asked the Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate whether Rep. Michele Bachmann's November 5th health rally on the lawn of the Capitol violated House rules.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) sent a letter to the office's director today, asking whether Bachmann "misused her official congressional website by urging people to come to the Capitol to protest the legislation despite House rules restricting members from using their websites to engage in grassroots lobbying or solicit support for a Member's position."

The group also asked whether Bachmann and other House Republicans violated House rules by not obtaining a permit for the rally.

CREW, which publicizes ethics flaps involving both Republicans and Democrats, took aim last year at then-Sen. Norm Coleman during his campaign against now-Sen. Al Franken.

An earlier post about the questions surrounding Bachmann's rally can be read here.
