U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann and state Republican lawmakers Monday will unveil a new "Declaration of Health Care Independence" at the Capitol.
Bachmann talked about the plan on Glenn Beck's radio show Friday.
"It's a declaration of independence but It's a declaration or health care independence," she said."We're going to have patriots and we're inviting the people to come, too, to sign this document that says we reject what they want, this centralized government approach, and what we want is no backroom deals. No political favoritism. No doing a bill behind closed doors. You read the thing before you actually vote on it. Some very simple things: don't add to the crushing debt, don't add to the state crushing debt...We're going to sign this."
On the radio show, listen here at liberal Media Matters, Bachmann said the event was planned for Wednesday -- the day of President Obama's State of the Union address. A release from the Minnesota Senate Republican caucus pegs the event for Monday at 12:30 p.m..
