Bachmann communications staff members move to GOP positions

January 23, 2009 at 3:52AM

WASHINGTON - Key members of Rep. Michele Bachmann's communications staff announced their departures Thursday for jobs with Republican leadership offices. Communications director Mary Vought is taking a job with the House Republican Conference, while press secretary Stephen Miller will be the new press secretary for eight-term Rep. John Shadegg, R-Ariz.

They were both part of the team that aggressively pursued national coverage for the GOP congresswoman, although neither was involved with the controversial interview in which Bachmann said she was concerned about "anti-American" views among some Democrats.

In November, Bachmann narrowly won reelection to her second term in the House.
