Avon woman dies in Sherburne County wrong-way crash

A 31-year-old woman from Avon, Minn., died late Friday in a wrong-way crash in Sherburne County, according to the State Patrol.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was driving a 2011 Nissan Altima west in the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 10 near 100th Avenue SE. in Clear Lake Township when it struck a 2002 Ford F150 driven by Dustin James Gilyard, 27, of St. Cloud about 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Gilyard, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of noncritical injuries. Alcohol was detected, according to the patrol's report.

The crash remains under investigation.
