Automotive swap meets are sign of spring

In addition to car shows, another sure sign of spring are swap meets, where vintage and collector car owners and wannabes buy and sell parts and, occasionally, vehicles. Two completely free swap meets take place this weekend. Here are the basics:

Saturday - Vintage Sports Car Racers Annual Spring Swap Meet, 10 a.m. - noon, Quality Coaches, 38th & Nicollet, Minneapolis, www.vscr.org.

Sunday - 11th Annual Spring Swap Meet, 7 a.m. - 1 p.m., Blacksmith Lounge, Hugo, 651-426-5334, www.northernlightscarclub.com. Car, truck, motorcycle and snowmobile parts, project cars and some complete vehicles will be for sale. Food donations accepted.

Weekend features

Look for profiles of several new and preowned vehicles in this section this weekend. On Saturday, articles include features on the 2009 Dodge Ram pickup truck and 2009 Honda Odyssey minivan. On Sunday, look for profiles of the 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid SUV, 2009 Nissan Frontier pickup and preowned features on the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country minivan and the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban.
