Five days after being found unconscious outside his western Hennepin County home and four days after dying, authorities have revealed the identity of the man who family members say is the victim of a violent crime.
Robert J. Roos, 33, of Corcoran, died from "multiple blunt-force head injuries," the Hennepin County medical examiner's office said Thursday evening. His father, Russell Roos, said his son's death involved a crime.
The examiner's office added that what led to the injuries remains under investigation by its staff and the Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office said at the outset that Roos was caught up in a "suspicious incident" at the home of his parents in the 10600 block of County Rd. 116.
On Friday, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Lisa Kiava declined to address whether one or more suspects remain at large, saying: "It's an open investigation."
Roos' body was found Saturday morning in the driveway. He died the next day at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, according to the victim's father.
Russell Roos declined to discuss his son's death at this point, saying, "This is a very serious incident, and police are working on it."
Stepbrother Adam Mach said this week that family members are being told that it appears that someone entered the home while Robert Roos was alone and a confrontation occurred. Furniture and other items in the home were found knocked over, Mach said.
