Authorities recovered the body of a man who apparently drowned in Lake Phalen Saturday evening. Crews from multiple departments were called to the lake at 7:55 p.m. The body was recovered at approximately 8:50.

An official with the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office said there was family present on the beach when the man, believed to be in his early 20s, went under while near a swimming platform on the lake.

The Sheriff's Office, St. Paul police and the St. Paul Fire Department responded to the scene. A member of the sheriff's dive team, three boats from the Sheriff's Office, a boat from the Fire Department, and a civilian boat in the area conducted a search.

The body was taken to the medical examiner's office, where an exact cause of death will be determined.

Police will conduct an investigation. The victim has not yet been identified.
