August wisdon about cedar waxwings

August 14, 2014 at 10:21PM

1 Cedar waxwings can be found feeding on just about any fruit this late in the summer. Favorites include crabapples, mountain ash berries and buckthorn berries.

2 Jump at the opportunity to photograph birds eating fruit. It's amazing how quickly the fruit disappears and when it does, so will the birds.

3 Always preset the various settings on your camera. You need to be ready when a subject appears.

4 Wind is a bird photographer's enemy. It's nearly impossible to get sharp images of perched birds when branches are waving to and fro.
