The first event at U.S. Bank Stadium will be a soccer match Aug. 3.

Stadium manager SMG announced the decision Tuesday. A news conference is set for Thursday afternoon to announce the 2016 International Champions Cup match between Chelsea F.C. and A.C. Milan.

SMG didn't announce plans or prices for ticket sales in a brief news release Tuesday. The match is to begin at 8:30 p.m.

Previously announced events will follow in August, including concerts by country star Luke Bryan and the band Metallica.

The Vikings will begin their residence at the stadium for the 2016 NFL season. Still under construction, the $1.1 billion stadium is expected to be done ahead of schedule. Earlier this week, Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority Chairwoman Michele Kelm-Helgen announced there would be free open houses for the public in July.

The dates haven't been selected, but tickets will be available online and she expects extended hours for visitors to see the building.
