A man driving an all-terrain vehicle crashed and died of his injuries Wednesday near Duluth, authorities said.

The rollover happened in the 5400 block of Bear Trap Road in Industrial Township, roughly 20 miles northwest of Duluth, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.

Greg Gundy, 58, of nearby Saginaw, was thrown from the ATV and found unconscious and with severe head injuries, the Sheriff's Office said. Emergency responders declared him dead at the scene.

"The cause of the crash appears to be human error, and Gundy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident," said a statement from the Sheriff's Office.
