Bonni Allen in "Avenue Q," which has been extended at Mixed Blood Theatre.

"Girls Only" is on a winning streak at Hennepin Stages. The skit comedy — which already had been extended for a month — will continue until June 26 at the downtown Minneapolis theater.

Actors Nicole Fenstad and Heidi Bakke took over performance in early Feburary after Barbara Gehring and Linda Klein opened the show Jan. 14.

Originally targeted for an April 3 close, the show in March was extended to May 8. Demand has been strong enough for the producers to stretch out another seven weeks.

According to our reviewer, Lisa Brock, the show is essentially a slumber party with the audience invited. The humor is right in that "Menopause" sweet spot, with songs about pantyhose, bras, tampons.

Avenue Q too

Mixed Blood Theatre has announced that it is adding 28 more performances for "Avenue Q," which has done land-office business since opening March 25. The show will run until May 29. Show information and review are here.
