Marvin Singleton

Hopkins, basketball

Joe Coleman was the superstar, but Singleton, a 6-5 bundle of power and agility, was the force that propelled the Royals to their third consecutive Class 4A championship. As Hopkins' primary interior presence, Singleton -- who will play at Northern Iowa next year -- handled plenty of rough play with nary a whisper of complaint and dished it out as well as he took it. In three games, he scored 50 points, grabbed 29 rebounds and consistently provided the Royals with much-needed physicality in the lane.

JEREMY BORG

Orono, basketball

It's difficult to call Borg the overlooked player in the Spartans' run to the Class 3A championship because his performance was too hard to ignore. He might not have led the team in scoring -- that honor went to teammate Jordan Smith -- but no one on the roster was more vital to the Spartans' success than the 6-6 senior center. In three games, he scored 42 points, grabbed 22 rebounds and blocked 16 shots.
