A multivehicle crash on Interstate 94 just east of Rogers late Thursday morning left at least five people injured and had the highway closed for several hours heading away from the Twin Cities, authorities said.

The crash occurred shortly after 10 a.m. on westbound I-94 near Brockton Lane, according to Minnesota Department of Transportation traffic control.

Information from the State Patrol said that two of the five people injured required transport by air ambulance. At least two vehicles were involved in the wreck, one of them a semitrailer truck, the patrol said.

Traffic that backed up on westbound I-94 was allowed to cross the median and head the other way. Meantime, MnDOT closed westbound I-94 from I-494 in Maple Grove to the crash scene until investigators completed their work early Thursday afternoon.

The lanes had reopened by 1:15 p.m.
