Saturday: Referendum vote on constitution is set for Dec. 15

Friday: Muslim Brotherhood-dominated assembly rushed through a draft of constitution in a 13-hour session -- two months ahead of deadline, but before high court's expected ruling Sunday to dissolve the assembly.

Nov. 22: President Mohammed Morsi, who has executive and legislative authority, granted himself extrajudicial powers. In reaction, many courts go on strike.

June: Morsi elected, beginning power struggle with Hosni Mubarak-era judges. The highest court then dissolves parliament.
