Orchestra to salute hospital's centennial year Healing will be the theme as the Cannon Valley Regional Orchestra opens its 31st annual concert series in conjunction with the Northfield Hospital's centennial celebration.

The season opens with shows on back-to-back days in Faribault and Northfield on Saturday and Sunday. The concert opens with Beethoven's Egmont Overture, then moves to a Vivaldi concerto for guitar and orchestra featuring soloist Randall Ferguson. "The Lark Ascending" for violin and orchestra, by R. Vaughan Williams, features Gail Nelson as soloist. Brahms' "Four Serious Songs" featuring mezzo soprano Deesa Staats will close the concert.

The orchestra is a volunteer group made up of 200-plus musicians from around the southern Twin Cities area and southern Minnesota. For more information on the group, see cvrorchestra.org.

Saturday's show is at 7 p.m. at the Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour, 512 2nd Av. NW., Faribault, and Sunday's is at 3 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church Hall, 500 W. 3rd St. W. Tickets are available at the door or in advance for $10 for adults and $5 for students for the Northfield concert. HASTINGS

This dancing is fancy National champion fancy dancer Larry Yazzie will demonstrate the art of American Indian dance and tell his story during a free program at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pleasant Hill Library in Hastings.

Fancy dance is a contemporary dance style known for its creativity, flamboyance and colorful costumes. It blends modern and traditional Native American dance styles.

The Pleasant Hill Library is at 1490 S. Frontage Road.
