"Writers on Writing" this week will feature a group of Minnesota writers whose voices are seldom heard: immigrants and refugees.
Writers published in an anthology of adult student writing that the Minnesota Literacy Council has assembled will be introduced by Eric Nesheim, executive director of the literacy council. Their stories will be the subject of an event at 7 p.m. Thursday at ArtReach St. Croix, 224 N. 4th St. in Stillwater.
The evening will include presentations by the authors, a question-and-answer session and an opportunity to mingle with other writers, artists and book lovers. The event is free and open to the public.
Other workshops planned in the "Writers on Writing" series include:
•Chris Niskanen, former outdoors editor for the Pioneer Press, giving a nature-writing workshop at the Warner Nature Center from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 17. The event will include a hike. Cost is $60 for ArtReach members and $65 for non-members. To register, call 651-439-1465.
•Children's book author Deborah Jo Larson and her editor discussing the publishing process at 7 p.m. Dec. 6. Her first book, "One Frozen Lake," is about a grandfather and grandchild ice fishing.
