Minnesota artist and author Lucy Rose Fischer will give a talk titled "Close Encounters of the Third Age — Reinventing at Retirement" at an event at 6:30 p.m. April 9 at the Heritage Library, 20085 Heritage Dr. in Lakeville.

A panel of local residents who have "reinvented" themselves at midlife or later will join Fischer to share their experiences with a career change, a volunteer position or a passion for the arts.

The event is free; no registration is required.

Pop art for children

Children ages 5 to 14 can use bright colors to draw and paint popular symbols to create pop art inspired by Jim Dine and Peter Max at an event at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Heritage Library, 20085 Heritage Dr.

Local potter Guillermo Cuellar will talk about his life and artwork at a Minnesota Mosaic event at 7 p.m. Monday at the Pleasant Hill Library, 1490 S. Frontage Road, Hastings. Cuellar was featured in the documentary "Minnesota Potters Sharing the Fire."

Kids ages 12 to 16 are invited to get help with directing, shooting and editing a short film in iMovie using the Wescott Library's iPad lab. The event is from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the library, 1340 Wescott Rd.
