The Church of St. Patrick will host a "Taste Extravaganza" from 6:30 to 10 p.m. April 27 at the church, featuring fare from more than a dozen area restaurants.
Wine and beer tasting and Scottish-Irish music also will be offered, along with a cash bar.
Tickets, which are $25, are available at the church office. Money from the fundraiser will be used to pay down archdiocesan debt.
The band Four Pints Shy will perform. Restaurants providing food include Angelo's, Axel's Bonfire, Bierstube, Cahill Diner, Caribou, Eddy's Bar and Grill, Emma Krumbee's, Gina's Homestyle Catering, Jersey's Bar and Grill, Mendoberri Café Wine and Bar, Outback Steakhouse, the Pool & Yacht Club and the Coop. Wine and beer will come from Cameron's Liquor.

Civil War discussions at community college Several discussions on the Civil War, marking the 150th anniversary of the conflict, are scheduled beginning this month at Inver Hills Community College.
Part of the college's "Interesting Conversations with Interesting People" series, the sessions will be free and open to the public. They are sponsored by the college's Academy of Lifelong Learning and the Dakota County Historical Society.
"Letters from the Civil War" is scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday in room 210 of the college's Liberal Arts building. Inver Hills English Prof. David Page and his students have been transcribing and annotating more than 100 letters to and from Abraham Colby, a quartermaster in an artillery battery from New York. Page will discuss what they have learned from the letters.
