Caponi Art Park will present a program highlighting the music, stories and traditions of Indonesia at 6:30 p.m. next Sunday in the park's Theater in the Woods amphitheater.
The Sumunar Indonesian Gamelan and Dance Ensemble will perform as part of the park's Summer Performance Series, a family-oriented program that brings regional and local artists to the park.
Sumunar also will perform at 10 a.m. Tuesday as part of the park's Family Fun Tuesday series, a weekly children's series introducing kids to a variety of art forms and world cultures.
The Gamelan is an Indonesian orchestra of bronze and teak instruments that include gongs, metallophones, xylophones, drums, flutes and bowed strings. A dance ensemble accompanies the Gamelan orchestra, performing classical court dances, folk dances that incorporate the martial arts, and new choreography using traditional movements. The performance will feature vibrant costumes and colorful masks.

Dakota archaeology subject of talk ThursdayJeremy Nienow will discuss archaeology in Dakota County and items in the Dakota County Historical Society collection during a free presentation Thursday.
