November 16, 2013 at 11:34PM

An orchestra performance of Handel's "Messiah" will get music lovers in the Christmas spirit at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center on Dec. 8.

The Dakota Valley Symphony Chorus and soloists will perform with the full orchestra for two shows, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The audience can sing along with the 7 p.m. performance, and scores will be available for sale before the concert.

Tickets for the concert range from $5 to $16 and can be purchased in person at the BPAC box office or through Ticketmaster at 800-982-2787 or ticketmaster.com. Additional service charges and handling fees may apply.

The arts center is at 12600 Nicollet Av. in Burnsville. The phone number is 952-895-4680.

The symphony was created as a way for skilled volunteer musicians to perform and promote symphonic music for residents of the south metro area. The group also provides a forum for aspiring local composers to premiere their work.
