Arts briefs: Guest experts to conduct workshops at Eagan Art House

The Eagan Art House, 3981 Lexington Av. S., will be hosting two guest artist workshops in the coming weeks.

The first, Traditional Japanese Bookbinding, will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and will be taught by Sheila McNellis Asato, an artist with more than 25 years of experience teaching and exhibiting in the United States, Europe and Asia. She also teaches at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts.

The second, Majolica Tile Making, will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 9. This workshop will be taught by Karin Kraemer, a Duluth artist who has created works in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Colorado and West Virginia.

Guitarist McLaughlin to play at Arts Center

Acoustic guitarist Billy McLaughlin and friends will perform at the Lakeville Area Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

McLaughlin, a five-time Minnesota Music Award winner, is known for his complex and rhythmic music. After a diagnosis of focal dystonia in 2005, McLaughlin "relearned" how to play lefthanded using techniques that create a harplike effect.
