All right, let's try this again.

Caponi Art Park, which pushed back its season opener by nearly three weeks because of the lingering winter, will try it again Saturday. The park will kick off its 2013 season with a spring open house from 1 to 4 p.m., with outdoor activities for all ages.

The 60-acre wooded park, with a sculpture garden, walking trails and a large outdoor amphitheater, is at 1220 Diffley Road in Eagan. It is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, through Labor Day weekend.

Zoo celebrates its 35th birthday

The Minnesota Zoo is planning special treats — for visitors and animals alike — to celebrate its 35th anniversary next weekend.

The first 1,000 kids through the gates on Saturday and Sunday will receive a surprise commemorative gift. And throughout the weekend, the zoo plans animal encounters, live music, a magician, puppet crafts and other activities.

Visitors can also help color a 35-year celebration banner at the Tropics Plaza. And zookeepers will be presenting talks on animals, including tiger cubs, bears and beavers.
