Arts briefs: Community theater holds auditions in Lakeville

Aspiring actors can audition this week for Expressions Community Theater's production of "The Fox on the Fairway."

The play by Ken Ludwig is described as a "tribute to great English farces" set at the Quail Valley Country Club as members prepare for the inter-club golf tournament against arch rival Crouching Squirrel. The show also features a disappearing diamond, objectionable sweaters and an exploding vase.

Expressions Community Theater is seeking six actors: a man in his 20s, two men in their 40s, a woman in her 20s, a woman in her late 30s and a woman in her 40s.

The auditions will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, 20965 Holyoke Av., Lakeville. Rehearsals begin the evening of Jan. 26. The show will be performed March 20-22 and March 27-29.

Beatles tribute band to perform at Ames Center

A touring Beatles tribute band will be playing at the Ames Center on Saturday.

The show "1964: The Tribute" will feature Beatles songs from the pre-Sgt. Pepper era, with instruments, clothing, hairstyles and banter to recreate the feel of an early 1960s Beatles concert.

The show will begin at 8 p.m. at the Ames Center, 12600 Nicollet Av., Burnsville. Reserved tickets cost $30, $40 or $50. For more information, go to the Ames Center's website, www.ames-center.com.

Submit art for display at community center

The Eagan Art House is seeking applications from local artists who would like to display their work at the Eagan Community Center in 2015 and 2016.

Art house staff will select 2-D and 3-D works that portray Eagan's natural environment or community spirit. Artists can submit solo work or the work of a group. Youth and adult artists are encouraged to apply.
