Arts briefs: Burnsville Uncorked set for Thursday

Burnsville Uncorked, the Burnsville Rotary and Burnsville Breakfast Club's 10th annual charity fundraiser, is scheduled for 7-9:30 p.m. Thursday at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center.

The evening will feature wine, Scotch and beer sampling. More than 100 wines from more than 20 distributors will be available, as well as the offerings of bourbon, Scotch and beer distributors. Food from Chianti Grill will also be available, plus coffee from Jo-Jo's Rise and Wine.

Tickets are $25 in advance and are available at Red Lion Liquor or from any Burnsville Rotary member. Tickets are $35 at the door.

DAKOTA COUNTY

Young Artist competition The Dakota Valley Symphony is encouraging instrumentalists and vocalists in grades 7-12 to enter its Young Artist Concerto/Aria Competition. The entry deadline is Dec. 29 for the Jan. 12 competition, which will be held at Schmitt Music in Southdale Square.

Students must memorize music from a list of qualifying pieces, posted at DakotaValleySymphony.org, and then bring an accompanist and perform it during the tryout. The winning musician will have an opportunity to play with the Dakota Valley Symphony at its spring concert on April 28, 2013.
