Arts briefs: Bielenberg hosts New Year's party

Families looking to celebrate the arrival of 2012 might find the Woodbury Park and Recreation Department's New Year's Eve at Bielenberg just the ticket.

Families looking to celebrate the arrival of 2012 might find the Woodbury Park and Recreation Department's New Year's Eve at Bielenberg just the ticket.

The popular event features games, slides, an obstacle course, moonwalks, miniature golf, open ice skating and bingo. It also will include music and a performance by members of the Woodbury Figure Skating Club.

Festivities begin at 6 p.m. Saturday and will wrap up with a drawing for door prizes at 8:30 p.m. and a New Year's Countdown at 8:45.

Admission will be limited to 600 people. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door if there are any tickets left. For information, call 651-714-3583.

Dance events on tap at Withrow BallroomFor those looking to get their groove on, the Withrow Ballroom will serve up a couple of opportunities next weekend.

On Friday, "The Night the Music Died," a tribute to Buddy Holly, will take place from 8 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

On Saturday, the RAMM & the Unreliables provide the tunes for the "NYE Dance Party," which will run from 8 p.m. until midnight. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

Last chance to get Victorian Tea ticketsA limited number of tickets for the Victorian Tea at the Washington Historic Courthouse are on sale through Tuesday. Dinner and show part of early celebrationValley Tours is offering a trip to the Sheldon Theater in Red Wing on Saturday.

The outing begins at 3:30 p.m. with an early dinner, followed by a performance by Jeffery Broussard, who was named Accordionist of the Year at the 2007 Zydeco Music & Creole Heritage Awards. He will be joined on stage by his band, the Creole Cowboys.
