Yo! Biz Markie and Aquabats "after-parties"

The "Yo Gabba Gabba!" shows Saturday at Target Center are bringing two related nighttime gigs.

After-parties are a common thing whenever touring shows come to the Target Center nowadays -- but not when they're touring kids shows! At least, I don't remember any Elmo and Abbey DJ sets at Clubhouse Jager after "Sesame Street Live!," or an after-party with Ernie & Bert trying to hook up with the ladies at Epic (or guys at the Saloon...?).

In another sign that "Yo Gabba Gabba!" is a different kind of children's TV series, there will be not one but two related shows after the pair of Target Center performances on Saturday (3 and 6 p.m.). "Just a Friend" rapper Biz Markie, who is purportedly teaching kids how to beatbox in the"Yo!" show, will be DJ-ing at the Seven Ultralounge at 11 p.m. Also, masked surf-punk band the Aquabats -- whose frontman Christian Jacobs is a co-creator of "Yo" -- will go straight from the Target Center to a gig at the Triple Rock with Koo Koo Kangaroo and the Prize Fighters opening (6 p.m., all ages, $16). Look for a full feature on "Yo Gabba Gabba" in tomorrow's Variety A&E section.
