Search continues for man missing in White Bear Township's Bald Eagle Lake

The man jumped off a boat to retrieve an object and did not resurface.

The search for a man believed to have have drowned in Bald Eagle Lake in White Bear Township stretched into Thursday afternoon.

The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office sent its water patrol unit to the lake about 8 p.m. Wednesday after getting a report about a 62-year-old man who jumped off a pontoon boat to retrieve an object. He went under the water and did not resurface, said Sheriff's Office spokesman Steve Linders.

Members searched for the man for a several hours, but "unfortunately, they did not find him," Linders said.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office also assisted with the search, which resumed at 10 a.m. Thursday. By mid-afternoon, the man had yet to be found.
