The Vikings have yet to allow a tight end find the end zone this season. But that changes against the Redskins and their star tight end Jordan Reed, who will score not one, but two touchdowns Sunday. The Vikings will have to be wary of second-string Redskins tight end Vernon Davis, the former top-10 pick, too.

Both kickers, Blair Walsh and Washington's Dustin Hopkins, will shake off their slumps and make game-tying and go-ahead field goals, respectively, in the fourth quarter of another close Vikings loss. Walsh's game-tying field goal will come from 27 yards after the Vikings offense sputters in the red zone once again.

Predicting a four-game losing streak for the Vikings a month ago would have been wildly unfathomable. Not with that defense. Alas, until the Vikings prove that they've pulled themselves together — sorry, a home loss to the Lions doesn't completely qualify — we'll go with the opposing team in our prediction.

JIM SOUHAN: Desperate Vikings came away empty

The Vikings will be tested today. They were lucky to win at Tennessee. Their victory at Carolina looks less impressive now that the Panthers are 3-5. They played poorly at Philadelphia and Chicago. Playing on the road, on grass, used to be a problem for the Metrodome-bound Vikings. They need a victory today to remain in the division lead, to end a losing streak and to prove they can handle playing a decent team on the road. My prediction: The Vikings' inability to run the ball or throw deep will allow Washington to slow their offense, and Kirk Cousins finds a way to put up the 20-plus points that mean a victory for the home team.
