SHREVEPORT, La. — Police in northwest Louisiana say a man wanted in Oklahoma killed himself during a chase, causing his truck to hit a car and seriously injure a couple.

Shreveport police Cpl. Breck Scott says the chase began when investigators found 30-year-old Damian Pea on Thursday night in a pickup truck at a gas station. They tried to arrest him but he got behind the wheel and sped off.

During the chase, police say Pea shot himself in the head. The Times (http://bit.ly/1r9Gt0J ) reports that Pea was wanted in Oklahoma County on charges including kidnapping, eluding police officers, robbery and burglary.

The injured couple was 81-year-old Clayton Weaver and his 78-year-old wife Linda Weaver, of Shreveport. KSLA-TV (http://bit.ly/1CjPLIF ) reports that dozens of blood donors came Friday to help the Weavers.
