TOLEDO, Ohio — A century-old Toledo drawbridge that was stuck in the upright position for much of the past week has reopened to cars.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge over the Maumee (MAW'-mee) River opened to traffic Thursday morning.
Crews have been dealing with electrical and mechanical problems on the downtown bridge for more than a week. They had hoped it would be ready Wednesday, but that didn't happen.
The bridge got stuck a week ago. While problems were addressed, officials weren't able to keep it lowered for road traffic because that would have blocked cargo ships on the river.
