West business briefs: Trader Joe's won't be opening a store in Excelsior

Despite months of rumors, Trader Joe's won't be opening a store on Water StreetTrader Joe's has put the kibosh on a long-rumored store in Excelsior.

Citing unnamed sources, the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal said the deal for an anchor grocery store in a new development at the former Mason Motors site in downtown Excelsior is dead.

Plans for a north-metro Trader Joe's in Shoreview, however, are proceeding even though a lease has yet to be signed, the Business Journal reported.
