A Level 3 sex offender who shed his electronic monitoring bracelet in southeastern Minnesota and fled on Monday surrendered early Thursday, state authorities said.

George D. McIntosh Jr., 25, who cut off his GPS ankle bracelet while in Faribault, turned himself in about 4 a.m. at the Le Sueur County jail in Le Sueur, state Department of Corrections said.

The department issued an arrest warrant for McIntosh, who was released from prison Aug. 30 after serving time for two third-degree criminal sexual conduct convictions in Le Sueur County.

McIntosh was then placed in Le Sueur County on intensive supervised release, the state's most stringent form of monitoring for released offenders.

McIntosh's assaults on his victims, girls ages 14 and 15, occurred at his home in Waterville in July 2007, according to court records. PAUL WALSH

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
