Miller's "Resplendent Reconnaissance" was installed at the Sioux City Art Center in 2008

Congratulations to Liz Miller of Good Thunder who is among 25 artists who received awards of $25,000 each from the Joan Mitchell Foundation. The annual awards go to artists "who are under-recognized for their artistic achievemetns and whose career would benefit from the grant." A panel of jurors picks the winners by screening their unidentified images.

Miller specializes in elaborate cut-papr installations that loop through atriums, undulate along walls and spill into hallways and stairwells. Individual components are typically abstract shapes though the compositions have a festive air that may suggest carnival floats or Chinese New Year dragons.
