A Minneapolis reader recently bought a camera from a vending machine in a department store. The camera had been advertised by the store and the woman used her store credit card. When the receipt printed out, she was surprised to find that any returns would be handled by a third party. The woman found the camera cheaper elsewhere and called the number listed on the receipt. She was told to pay shipping costs and wait weeks to find out whether the return would be approved. A store manager was unable to help her. The woman saw no sign indicating the vending machine was not operated by the store. What do you think about this return policy?
