The weekday happy hour (3 to 6 p.m.) at the Sample Room (2124 NE. Marshall St., Mpls., 612-789-0333, www.the-sample-room.com) comes naturally for a place that makes small plates special. The format? All kinds of goodies for just $3 a pop, including an ever-changing burger, nachos topped with blue cheese and bacon, hummus and flatbread crackers, and olives tossed with preserved lemon and peppers. Wash it down with $3 tap beers and house wines.RICK NELSON
