Tropical Cyclone 08P, Wilma, has brought torrential rainfall to parts ofAmerican Samoa and will continue to do so over the next 24 hours as it slowlymoves southward.Apia, the largest city in American Samoa, has received nearly 10 inches of rainover the past four days, with more possible before the tropical cyclone movesaway.
The capital city of Pago Pago has received over 4 inches of rainfall so far;however, the storm will pass very near the city during the next 24 hours,bringing potential for damaging winds and flooding rainfall.
Tropical Cyclone Wilma is likely to further strengthen over the next 24-48before moving into cooler waters and more wind shear. Wilma has potential tobring heavy rainfall to New Zealand late next week.
Tropical Cyclone 09P, Anthony, has formed to the east of Cairns, Australia andis moving off to the east-southeast. This general track is expected to continuefor the next 24-48 hours before the storm will slow and turn back toward thewest.
Tropical Cyclone Anthony will bring the threat for heavy rain and strong windsto the Cape York Peninsula of Australia later next week.
