Hot Off the Press

Opening Friday: One of the summer's best art opportunities is the opening reception of "Hot Off the Press," a show of new original prints by 35 Minnesota talents. All members of Highpoint's cooperative print studio, the 35 artists include veteran teachers, recent college grads and professional practitioners of wide experience. The show features more than 75 etchings, lithographs, screen prints, woodcuts, monoprints and other media. Subjects? They too range from fluid abstractions to incisive portraits, comic sketches and stylized landscapes such as Clara Ueland's "Night Road" intaglio seen here. Everything is for sale, with a special 20 percent discount available Friday night. (Opening reception, 6:30-9 p.m. Fri., free. Highpoint Center for Printmaking, 912 W. Lake St., Mpls. Ends Aug. 22, free. 612-871-1326 or www.highpointprintmaking.org)
