Abraham Cruzvillegas: The Autoconstrucción Suites

Opening Friday: With a modus operandi that boils down to "have concepts, will travel," Mexican-born Abraham Cruzvillegas has spent the past decade in transit. After success at the 2003 Venice Biennale, he produced sculpture at residencies in Saché, France, and Paris; Perugia, Italy; Glasgow, Scotland; San Francisco and Berlin. Along the way he has made films and videos, dabbled in performances and politics, written song lyrics and collaborated with local bands wherever he is. Samples of all this multitasking will by showcased in a quasi-retrospective of Cruzvillegas' found-object sculptures, performance relics, music, videos and memorabilia. (Opening party 9 p.m.-midnight Fri., $30. Artist talk 2 p.m. Sat., $10. Walker Art Center, 1750 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. Show ends Sept. 22, $12 adults. 612-375-7600 or www.walkerart.org) Mary Abbe
